QuickBooks POS: Single License, Multiple Computers

Today we will talk about single license in multiple computers.

Let’s begin:

  1. QuickBooks point of sale can be installed on multiple workstations using a single license number.
  2. However, in that case, only one of the workstations can run Point of Sale at one time.
    1. For example, you have a small store with limited employee only, and you have two workstations on your store, one computer on the register and a laptop in the back office. Install Single license QuickBooks POS on both of the computer and the laptop. Now, when using QuickBooks POS, you can’t synchronize them. If you have a lot of customer you let the Register use first the POS, then if you’ll do some accounting or maybe some report you can use it at the back office just when the register is not using the POS already.
  3. For multiple workstations to run the program concurrently requires multiple user license.
    1. A good example here is, when you have a big store with plenty of employee, and as always you have a lot of customers going in and out of your store, and so you’ll be using multiple user license on your computers for your employees to operate the POS at the same time. This will speed up the work on your store, specially if you have a lot of customer with a lot of items to buy.
  4. To sum it all, Single users license is use for small businesses or store, and Multiple users license is used for big businesses with a lot of customers going and buying a lot of items.
