This one has thrown me for a loop until I ran across this knowledge base article that provides a rather simple solution. Basically, you simply open the File/Preferences/Workstation form and click on the “I Want To…” followed by “Reset to Default Settings”. Apparently the workstation preferences are damaged and that is why this error comes up. Sounds a little iffy to me, but, give it a try. Once in a while I have a customer who cannot open their QuickBooks POSs program. Most of the time, this is due to firewall issues. However, once in a rare while, you do get a QB POS file that has become corrupt. How can you tell if the database is corrupt?
