Intuit recently released an update for QuickBooks POS v12.0. The main focus of this update is the long awaited ability to process EMV Chip Payments.
EMV is a new US credit card payment standard meant to make credit transactions more secure. “EMV” stands for Europay, MasterCard, and Visa – the developers of this standard. Until now, merchants who were not equipped to accept chip enabled cards Intuit has been covering liability for any fraudulent card purchases where EMV inability is a factor. With this update and the oncoming ability to acquire an EMV Chip Card Reader for QuickBooks POS, Intuit will soon be shifting the liability back to the customer.
