QuickBooks POS: Multi-Rate Tax Jurisdictions

 

Today we’re going to show you how to make a Single-rate tax to a Multiple-rate tax.

Let’s begin:

  1. On your “File” menu go to “Preferences”, then click “Company”.
  2. On your Company preferences select “Sales Tax”.
  3. This is your Single-rate tax.
  4. Now if you will make your Single-rate tax to Multiple-rate tax, select “Edit Tax Code” on the left side of the screen.
  5. Select “Next”.
  6. Select Multi-rate tax, then click “Next”.
  7. Select “Add another tax rate”.
  8. Fill in the boxes.
  9. On the QuickBooks Tax Info section choose “Tax”.
  10. Select “Finish”.
  11. Your new tax rate is now added to your Local Sales Tax field.

Now let’s use the Multi-rate tax in making a sale.

  1. Go to “Make a Sale”.
  2. Choose an item.
  3. On your “Price and Discount” screen type “100” as an example in unit price. Then select “Ok”.
  4. Your Tax is now added to the Total Amount.
